What Makes Red Mountain Sedona Unique
When considering an after care program for yourself or a loved one, it’s important to find the right fit. Aftercare is generally a long-term commitment of usually six to nine months, and you don’t want to be that simply doesn’t work. If you do, it’s likely that you will find yourself going back to old habits instead of continuing to heal. If you don’t know what to look for in an aftercare program, click here to read my article “5 Things to Look for When Finding and Aftercare Program.”
At Red Mountain Sedona, we pride ourselves on the quality of care we provide while offering a program that becomes more customizable as you move through it and gain increased freedom. Our highly trained staff bring a combination of Eastern and Western therapeutic approaches. Mindfulness, which originated in Eastern cultures, but has become mainstream in the West, is the main driver behind the Red Mountain program.
On graduation, our students can expect to be ready to take on life as responsible, purpose-driven, mindful and spiritually content human beings. No matter which direction our students choose to go, they will be equipped with the confidence and skills necessary to move onto a fulfilling next chapter in their journey.
Simply by virtue of being in Sedona, Arizona, the versatility of recreational pursuits offered by RMS is unmatchable. The famous Red Rock cliffs woven through the landscape allow for a number of activities, such as mountain biking and rock climbing.
Less than 45 minutes north are the San Francisco Peaks in Flagstaff which are perfect for skiers and snowboarders in the winter, and those who love to hike or kayak in the warmer months. To the immediate south are smaller towns like Prescott and Jerome for those who enjoy camping and hiking, and Phoenix is a bit further south for those who desire a lifestyle that a larger city can provide.
There are lakes throughout all over Arizona for those who enjoy water sports, canoeing, or just being out on the water.
We believe in the healing power of communing with nature, and our students are encouraged to spend as much time outside as possible.
Our therapeutic approach is a premium blend of Eastern and Western thought; meditation, martial arts, and yoga Mind, body, and Spirit are part of our regular weekly schedule to complement one-on-one, group, and adventure therapy. Our therapists are not only highly trained clinically but each also brings their own unique skill-set such as martial arts and meditation training. You will often find one of our therapists working with a client -- outside of their normally scheduled sessions -- on a mindfulness activity or coaching for a certain life skill.
When students first arrive at Red Mountain, all of them follow the same schedule which includes daily meditation, yoga and martial arts three times a week, group therapy twice a week and one-on-one therapy once a week. The students also often go to the movies and out to eat together to dine as a family.
As they progress through the program, and gain more freedom, they are allowed to alter their schedule to pursue other interests, which can be recreational, occupational, or educational. The hope is that as they move through the program, they will develop a better sense of who they are and what brings them happiness so that once they graduate they will leave with a sense of purpose and direction.
So if you want to be in a safe place where you can grow spiritually, heal emotionally, get in shape physically, learn about yourself, and launch into a purposeful life, then Red Mountain Sedona is the perfect place for you to:
